The Project
Southway Housing Trust (SWHT) is seeking to deliver a high-quality and sustainable development of 76 apartments associated amenity space [and 59 parking spaces]. The development at Didsbury Point also includes space provision for a medical centre at ground floor level.
Sustainability has been a key driver in the design of the scheme by Buttress Architects. The design team is working positively towards the building being ‘Passivhaus’, a rigorous, high-performance building standard that dramatically reduces the building’s energy needs.
The high-quality design seeks to complement the surrounding area and has evolved through constructive dialogue with Manchester City Council’s planning and design officers.
The building will have a quality brick facade with brickwork detailing to articulate the facade and generous window proportions to each apartment. There is also car parking provision of 59 spaces with a car park deck included to the eastern part of the site.
Landscaping and ecology proposals maximises the retention of existing trees and additional planting is proposed to maximise biodiversity onsite.
